Residents from the Derringham ward of Hull have recently been given the chance to choose what improvements they would like to see made in their area.
The move was part of a pilot scheme about deciding which community projects should be selected to continue to make the Derringham ward a place where people want to live and work.
Derringham ward Councillors Hull, Uzzell and Woods set aside £25,000 to spend on projects to improve the area and invited all local residents and businesses to submit their ideas about how to spend the money.
The suggestions ranged from putting up wooden bollards to prevent people parking on grass verges, installing more litter bins to encourage people to clean up after their dogs, double yellow lines at junctions to ease traffic problems and portable goal posts for community use.
Derringham ward Councillor Helena Woods said: "It's fantastic that local people have given us their ideas about how to improve the area. This is a good example of giving people the power to make positive changes to their area.
"I'm pleased to announce that we have assessed and costed the suggestions made and we are able to go ahead with all of them."
Work on the projects is now underway and it is anticipated that some will be completed in the next few months, with the others being completed in the the near future.
