Sports Roundup – February 2009.
February saw the long awaited start to the new super league season with both Hull teams being confident of a great improvement on last season.
Hull FC started with a difficult game at home to Wigan, followed by a long trip to newcomers Celtic Crusaders. The end of the month saw a difficult game at home to Catalans. Hull showed exactly what they intend to achieve with 3 wins out of three.
Rovers had three tough games to start their season, away at Bradford, home to Leeds, and away at Saints. A good draw at Odsal and a magnificent win at Knowsley Rd saw Rovers take three points from arguably the top three teams in super league.
Meanwhile, The Tigers mixed fortunes continued. A well deserved point at Chelsea gave a point towards survival. Then another draw saw Citys cup hopes continue. A defeat at home to Spurs was a blow and set the doubters tongues wagging again, only to be followed by a deserved win at home to Sheffield to see City progress to the cup quarter finals against Arsenal at The emirates.
So a far from disastrous February for Hulls three teams and the promise of even better things in March.
