January was all about the slide of the tigers. On a positive note, City progressed in the FA Cup. A goalless draw at the KC was followed by a 1 - 0 win at St James Park and gave City a home tie against Millwall, which the Tigers duly won. Sadly premier league form wasn't giving the same success. Four matches but only one point from a possible twelve was giving both fans and club cause for concern. In their favour, that one point was against West Brom, a fellow promotion team who were sitting below us in the league.
Meanwhile on the rugby front, cross river rivalry continued as ever. Promises and threats regarding the 2009 season were made by both sides. The Michael Crocker visa story still ran with no end in sight raising questions regarding immigration that quite frankly don't belong on sports pages. News wise it was a quiet month but Super league 14 is only a couple of weeks away and then all the threats promises, hopes, and dreams start to be realised.
